The primary objectives and purposes of OC Makapo Aquatics Project are:

1. to promote paddling sports as a therapeutic and rehabilitative form of exercise for blind and visually impaired (VI) persons;
2. to provide physical training services to blind and VI athletes seeking to participate in paddling sports such as outrigger canoe racing, dragon boat racing, and kayaking;
3. to provide support for blind and VI athletes to compete in paddling races nationwide; and
4. to educate the community on the cultural significance and origins of paddling sports from different cultural perspectives.
